Call us nuts, but we really love squirrels! Their frenetic activity and comical attempts to steal birdseed delight us. They’re amazingly adaptable and can be found in the busiest cities or most remote forests. While they can be a nuisance sometimes – watch out for falling acorns! – they also have their own charm.
Yes, it can be easy to overlook these members of the rodent family. But when we remember that we’re also sharing their space, it’s easier to tolerate them. Their chirping and harvesting are a welcome sound (most of the time).
Did you know that squirrels – at least gray squirrels – are also important for the spread of tree and plant seeds? They work hard to save up for the winter, but they then forget where they’ve buried the nuts and seeds. Later on, these can sprout into new plants.
As much as we love them, we don’t want squirrels in our homes. Real ones, at least. But we do like having a few knick-knacks featured these little fellows! Here’s some of the best we’ve seen. We’re sure they’d look great in your home, too!
Squirrels on a Log Solar Garden Light
Ok, we know we said this is about decorations for indoors. This one is mostly designed for outdoors but can look great inside as well, as long as it gets a lot of sun through the window!
These two squirrels are in the midst of gathering acorns for winter, and sit perched on a log. After being charged by the sun, the acorns glow softly.
The piece measures 9 inches long and 7 inches high and is made of polyresin. It weights about one pound even.
The solar panel is on the opposite side of the piece, on the log. Since the squirrels both look in the opposite direction, it’s not a distraction at all. However, you do need to be sure that side will get enough sun.

If you’ve look around our site, you’ve probably discovered that we’re big fans of Design Toscano. And these two squirrels are no exception!
Chomper is chomping into a nut and Scamper is scampering about. But they probably wouldn’t mind if you choose other names for them.
These two hand-painted pieces are crafted of resin. They measures 3 inches by 7 inches by 6.5 inches, which is pretty close to the size of the real thing.
They look realistic at first sight, and would be great on the front steps or porch.

Yes, yes, we know. Indoor items! But this cute little guy, even though he’s designed to hold up outdoors, could look great in the house, too.
This fella has a fantastic expression and position. He looks like he’s surveying the area to make sure it’s safe to continue his hunt for nuts.
It’s very lifelike! Even the size is pretty close. He measures 7″ x 3.25″ x 6″. It’s designed to sit flat on a table, desk, or railing.
La Jolie Muse Nut Bowl
You’ll go nuts, and enjoy nuts, with this appropriately themed nut bowl! This ceramic bowl features a squirrel standing guard over his stash – but he’s willing to share with you!

This white ceramic piece measures 6.3″ in diameter. It’s 4.7″ tall. The dish is just over a half-inch deep, so it doesn’t hold tons of snacks. But it’s suitable for light sampling.
The manufacturer does note that there can be some slight color differences as well as “glaze pops” that can occur with fired ceramics.
It does need to be hand-washed, as it’s not suitable for the dishwasher or microwave.
