Which came first, the chicken or the egg? It’s a timeless question. But when you’re getting ready for Easter, you’ll likely be looking for some kind of eggs to help with your decorating.
Sure, you’ll say, eggs aren’t really an animal. But that animal is ready to pop out! And in some of our favorite Easter egg toys, there’s some other animal – anywhere from a bunny rabbit to a dinosaur – ready to pop out as a surprise treat for a youngster.
Whether you’re preparing Easter baskets or planning an egg hunt, any of these will be great additions to the mix.
Dinosaur Easter Eggs
These may not have been designed as Easter Eggs, but they’ll be a great addition to any budding paleontologist’s Easter basket!
This set of 12 eggs works like a “real” archaeological dig. In addition to the eggs, small tools are included as well as a map. Add a small amount of water to the egg then use the tools to open them. It’s a fun time for younger children as they enjoy this interactive toy and learn about these ancient creatures.
The only drawback is that this is a one-time use toy. You can’t put the dinosaurs back in the eggs after they’re opened. But for a single child, this should offer a couple of hours of fun.
Suitable for ages 3 and up.
Double Couple Easter Eggs with Plush Bunny
Here’s another great idea that might spur a couple questions from your children once they realize that bunnies don’t really come out of eggs! But still, these are great Easter gifts that will truly be appreciated. They’re incredibly cute!
This set comes as an 8-pack. We’ve pictured the set with all bunnies, but they also offer one that has 4 windup bunnies and 4 windup chicks (available at the same link). Note that the picture ones are plush toys, not windups.
These are the regular snap-together eggs and each one measures 3.5 inches long. The shells are sturdier than a loit of others. They easily snap together. The bunny – including its ears – is squished inside and when it is “hatches” it measures a little over 5 inches tall once it’s had a chance to restore its shape.
The toys, as far as we’ve seen, do not come in the egg; you have to do that yourself. So if this is going to be a surprise, you might not want to open the package in front of your child.
36 Pieces Shiny Golden Easter Eggs
There must have been a pretty busy goose around, because there are a lot of great golden eggs in this package – 36 to be exact!
If you’re looking for something special and more elegant, or want to have some unique prizes with a large Easter egg hunt, you’ll love these.
These eggs are also hinged, so you won’t have to worry about hunting down matches pieces.
Each egg measures just under 2 1/2 inches long. That makes them good only for very small toys or treats, but they still offer a unique and attractive idea to complete your decorations.
Play-Doh Spring Eggs Gift Set Bundle
Play-Doh is a great gift that can provide limitless hours of fun, and this set of 12 eggs each containing its own glob of the moldable stuff makes a fantastic gift!
This order actually includes three boxes of four eggs each. The eggs are white, blue, purple and pink. They’re great for storing the Play-Doh afterward too!
Each egg holds about 2 ounces of material. This is about half the size of the smaller Play-Doh cans, but can still be great for endless creativity. And with the full set, it comes to about a can-and-a-half of each color.
Wooden Egg Shakers Musical Eggs
Looking to add some more life to the Easter get-together? These wooden eggs are hollow and containi beads so they sound like maracas when shaken!
The set of 12 eggs is decorated with vibrant colors and designs. Non-toxic paints are used. The eggs measure about 3 inches by 2 inches.
The eggs are sealed for safety and the vendor makes a note to double-check for any cracks (since they are wooden, they could be cracked with a lot of force). But they definitely seem safe. And the colors and sounds will hold almost any child’s attention!
Wrapping It Up
Break out of your shell and make some great egg gifts a part of your Easter celebration! Whether they contain toys or make music, they can be a favorite decoration and gift. And they can be used year after year, too!
