There’s lots of spooky animals out there, but for some reason birds – most of which are beautiful and inspiring – are one of the creatures most associated with Halloween. It could be the influence of Edgar Allen Poe’s powerful poem “The Raven” or perhaps Alfred Hitchcock’s terrifying film “Birds.” Or perhaps it’s simply because certain feathered “friends” prefer to feast on carrion.
Whatever the case, you might want to make some images of birds part of YOUR Halloween decoration. Some of these also are great throughout the year to frighten off other pests.

BirdBusters Dead Vulture Effigy
Of all the birds we don’t like to see, a vulture probably tops the list. These creatures herald death and are known (perhaps more from bad Westerns and cartoons) to circle overhead just waiting for an animal – or person – to breathe its last.
Its place in the food chain does fit in well with Halloween and can lend to an especially terrifying feel for your decorations. Or, if you’re going with an Old West theme, it also works great.
This figure measures 18″ high. Its wings can be spread and it also has wires attached to the feet to help hold it in place, including in the upside-down “death pose”. It’s an actual decoy and has actual feathers to make it appear more realistic.
Prextex Realistic Looking Halloween Decoration Crows
The crow is often associated with witches and magic and is another great reminder of Halloween. Their caw and their black image can create fear in the hearts of even the boldest!
This set from Prextex includes two well-designed crows, detailed even to have downy feathers above their feet. They measure 6.5″ tall and about ten inches from beak to tail feathers. The body is styrofoam with attachments stuck in for the wings and legs.
Bendable wires attached to the crows feet all you to attach them to a variety of surfaces.
These also make a great deterrant for some types of bird, although they may not hold up for long outdoors.

Toland Home Garden Tree Ravens Garden Flag
For a slightly more classy and reserved feel, you might love a great garden flag features ravens! It’s definitely seasonal, but not designed for fright. Instead, it will add some subtle great taste to your walkway, entryway, or wherever you like to hang flags such as these.
With the ravens perched in a leafless tree, this definitely goes well with the late-October celebration.

These props seem more cartoonish than realistic to us, but still make an awesome decoration for Halloween!
These measures 12″ tall and about 5″ wide. They have feathered wings and feathered red necks. The body is made of foam.

Toland Home Garden Crows n Jacks House Flag
This is another great flag from Toland Homes. This one, though, is “house flag” size, measuring 28″ by 40″. It’s got great colors and is a fun way to brighten up your entryway.
This one-sided flag highlights birds in the tree and bright orange jack-o-lanterns on the ground. Falling leaves and the nearly-bare tree really bring out the autumn theme.
Like the flag listed above, this is made of polyester. The material as well as the dyes used hold up well to the elements and are resistant to fading and the effects of UV light, so it should serve you well for years to come!
YTC Raven Collectible Figurine
Here is a more durable statuette of a raven, this one perched on a branch. Since it is made of resin, it likely will hold up much longer than the “seasonal decoration” type images above, which are mainly made of foam.
The image measures about 5″ wide and 6.5″ high (including the branch).
Now all you have to do is set a speaker near it and run a loop of Vincent Price reading Poe’s great poem!
Wrapping It Up
