If you love these marvelous Andean animals, you’ll adore these salt and pepper shakers. They really reflect this unique animal that lives high in the mountainous regions of South America.
Now, we’re not going to get into the differences between llamas, alpacas, and vizcuñas. We know they’re different, and we’ve been reprimanded enough times by Peruvian friends for screwing it up. We know some of these shakers look more like alpacas then llamas, but that’s a little too technical for us here 🙂
If you have a special love for the Andes or just find these creatures adorable, you’ll definitely want these on your table or knick-knack shelf!
Boston Warehouse Llama Salt & Pepper Set
This hand-painted, colorful pair of llamas is just great! The vibrant artwork really stands out. The llamas look totally at peace, too. They even have traditional Andean textile designs draping their backs.
It’s easy to tell salt from pepper here – the salt shaker is the light color, and pepper dark. They are ceramic. They measuer about 3 2/3″ tall.
As with most hand-painted pieces, the colors can vary a bit.
Also, at least on some sets, the shakers seem to be reversed. That is, there are three holes on the salt shaker and two on the pepper. And they’re also a bit large, so you have to be careful not to let too much come out.
But they’re great decorative pieces, nonetheless. They can be used, but just be careful to see if the flow of your condiments is too fast.
Luciano Housewares Cute Novelty Llama Salt and Pepper Shakers Set
This set has a more austere look, but will go great with your formal dining set when you want to toss in a bit of fun! The plain white llamas almost look like porcelain pieces (they’re not real porcelain; they’re regular ceramics).
They’re durable and rather easy to use. The hole to fill them is a decent size, although it’s always somewhat tough to fill any of these novelty pieces.
These measure about 3 inches tall and 2.5 inches long.
Abbott Collection Resting Llamas Salt and Pepper Shakers
We love the realistic texture and painting of this set from Abbott! They’ve really captured the thick fiber of the coat. It’s shaded really well, too, especially on the pepper shaker!
The ornaments and textiles the llamas are wearing are richly colored and finely detailed as well.
These shakers measure 3 inches high and 3 inches long.
As in the case above, the holes don’t seem to match with the colors of llamas. Usually a pepper shaker has more holes. But (at least in ours) it seems like there are three holes for salt and only one for pepper.
Again, though, they’re adorable for decoration, and can be used as long as you’re mindful of shaking them carefully!
Llama Love Classic White 4 x 3 Ceramic Dolomite Salt and Pepper Shaker Set
These shakers stand tall and proud and will make a great impression on display, whether on a shelf or your dinner table!
The open area among the legs isn’t carver out, allowing you to store more condiments inside.It also makes them more stable – those legs would be quite fragile on their own! But the relief and shading definitely look great.
The pieces measure 4 1/4 inches high and 3 inches long. They’re made of ceramic dolomite
The accessories are more muted in color than some of the others we’ve included. They’re not quite pastels, but they’re still rich and beautiful.
DEI Llama Salt and Pepper Shakers
This pair of llamas kneels and rests while waiting to go to work adding flavor to your meal. Or maybe they just want to stay there and look great on display!
The ceramic pieces are about 3 1/8 inches high by 3 3/4 inches long. One is grey and the other white, making it easy to tell which condiment is where.
The saddle and bridle are colored in a rich turquoise color, and there are multi-colored rings around the bridle, too.
The stopper on the bottom is rubber.
