Need something powerful to hang on a drab bedroom wall? You can’t do much better than a shark! These might fish are one of the greatest predators on earth. And every since Jaws debuted in 1975, they’ve generated fear in the hearts of people around the world. Probably more fear than necessary, considering how rare shark attacks are, but that’s another story 😀
The Great White and over 500 other species of shark represent some of the oldest species on the planet. They go back at least 410 million years – and maybe 450 million! They, along with rays, are among the cartilaginous fish – meaning they have cartilage, unlike most other types of fish.
The sight of a shark can bring panic if you’re at the beach, but if you see them swimming on TV or simply have a nice picture of them in their natural habitat, they actually look quite peaceful. And that combination is part of what makes them so great as a decoration! You get the ferocity of that mouthful of those 300 teeth (for a Great White, at least), but also that sleek, powerful swimming creature.

We’re not 100% comfortable with the title of this poster, but we still like the look. Why aren’t we comfortable with it? The yearly average for unprovoked shark attacks around the world is 72. And there are 27 species shown on this poster. What makes them so “dangerous”?
But we still love the great images of sharks here! The common name, scientific name, and full grown size and weight are shown for each one.
The poster is 24″ by 36″ and is a great learning tool. But make sure everyone understands that sharks aren’t nearly as dangerous as we sometimes make them out to be!

Wrapping It Up
