Ok, ok, we admit it! This isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. But for many, snakes are still a favorite animal. Even if you don’t want a real one around, you may still enjoy having a sculpted image.
Many types of snake are dangerous, and some people love that aspect. They’re also associated with evil at times – as in the story of Adam and Eve and elsewhere in many cultures.
But snakes are often seen as a symbol of rebirth, too, as they shed their skin and “start over.” They’re also symbols of healing – just take a look at the Blue Cross logo with its rod of Asclepius. The winged snake is an avatar of the god Quetzalcoatl in Mayan and Aztec cultures. And in the Chinese zodiac, a person born in the year of the snake is considered intelligent and wise.
Of course, the rattlesnake is common in North America and is a great symbol of outdoor life. It’s a reminder that nature is powerful and potentially dangerous in its own right. It’s also a thing of beauty, in its own way.
We’ve found some great statues of snakes that you might love in your own home. Just be sure to warn your visitors, though, because some of them are pretty realistic!
Michael Carr Designs Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Outdoor Statue
We’ve been lucky enough to never run into a rattler in the wild We’ve traipsed through the woods enough to likely have been near one, and they probably noticed us. But fortunately, we’ve never been confronted with one in striking position. However, we think this design comes really close to capturing the pose and the power of the creature!
The statue is made of polyresin and has a UV-resistant coating. That means it stands up really well outdoors! (You probably want to bring it in during winter, though).
It’s about 9 inches long, 5 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It weighs 6.4 ounces.
It’s realistic enough to shock your unsuspecting visitors, so warn them – or better yet, record their reaction on your phone!
Brass Cobra On Coins Statue
This is a great good-luck charm for your desk! It’s made of brass and the base measures 2.8″ by 3.2″. It’s about 4 inches tall.
The cobra curled up on a stack of coins is a wonderful symbol of prosperity.
It’s part of a Chinese Zodiac series, and makes a great gift for someone based on their birth year. All the other zodiac animals are available, too (just click the buttons on the Amazon page!)
Muse Design Garden Gnome Snake Statues
Like garden gnomes? You’ll love this statue of a snake with gnomes all over!
Unfortunately, one of the gnomes is already in the snake’s mouth, and another seems to be stuck between its coils. However, three others appear to be coming to the rescue as they scale their fierce foe!
The snake looks like an emerald tree boa, one of our favorites for its rich green color. Not really one you’re likely to see in your garden in North America, but it will look fantastic among your plants!
This statue is suitable for outdoor use. It’s 10 inches tall, 6 inches wide and just under 6 inches deep. It weighs 2.5 pounds. It’s made of resin.
